Pine Harbor, Maine has its local legends just like any other small town. The Eve Beast is one of these tall tales, a monstrous creature that rises out of the ocean every Christmas Eve to feast on the children of Pine Harbor. Of course, this is only fiction, and there is no such creature rising from the sea, shuffling through the streets, tapping on your window, or hiding just around that corner…right? One ticket secures your spot at the table for both sessions of the campaign.
This campaign uses the Kids on Bikes RPG system and is intended for adventurers 14+.
Event Dates: 12/16 & 12/23
Event Time: 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Plot Summary: Pine Harbor, Maine is a sleepy town that appears timeless to any casual onlooker. This is set in an alternate present without COVID-19 and its effects on our time, but the large lack of cell phones in this area (due to physical isolation and poor cellular connection) and its evergreen small town charm, it appears as if it is just set in the nebulous times that movies are often set in when made to be “present day.” It is Christmas Eve morning when this story begins and buzz surrounding the Eve Beast has been on a rise, as it rises every year with the promise of its arrival. The majority of people are content to make uncomfortable jokes and pretend that it does not secretly scare them (or be genuinely unaware or unafraid), but certain few seem convinced that the Eve Beast’s return is upon them and that no one is safe. It falls to you, the children of Pine Harbor, to stay up late and, instead of looking for Santa, scout out this monster and learn the truth about your home town.
About the Dungeon Master: Your DM is Amadeus Cigan (they/them). They are a bit younger and newer to the RPG scene, having only DMed for just over 2 years, but love the games and the stories that result. They have DMed Dungeons and Dragons 5e, Monster of the Week, Masks, Kagegami High (MAID), and many other play styles including pick-up-and-plays like Goat Crashers. They tend to trend on the story-driven side as opposed to the combat-driven side, but still wants combats to be exciting and fun when they do happen and wants the stories to have good stakes and suspense. They largely play with home brew and self-penned stories, so just because something isn’t in the rule book, doesn’t mean it can’t work, and the narrative and “rule of cool” will almost always win out.
What to Bring: Bring a pencil and notebook (optional, to take notes). Character sheets will be provided and character creation will be done in session. If you have your own copy of Kids on Bikes, it is advised that you bring it just for reference reasons.
