Welcome, family. Our story takes place in Stonega, Virginia, a coal-mining town that all the PCs should be at least a little familiar with. Maybe you grew up here, maybe you came back to visit family, or maybe you've taken a job here recently. During a celebration at the community center with live music, one of the fiddle players suddenly begins to fervently play a new song. The other members of the band join in, some of them looking very surprised. As the song plays on, many of those in the band as well as in the audience start to notice that something is terribly wrong! This is a demo game for the new Old Gods of Appalachia TTRPG from Monte Cook Games using the Cypher System.
This campaign is intended for adults & teens (14+).

Meet the GM
Name: James Gallagher
Profile: "I work in a standard 9 to 5 type job, and have two attention-hogging puppers (Wash & River). I've been an avid TTRPG player since the summer of 1979 when me and a few friends decided to try out this game called Dungeons & Dragons. Since then, I've created a home-brewed campaign world for D&D that has been persistent, multi-generational, and evolving for the past 35 years. I've written hundreds of pages of lore, creatures, and NPCs for this world. In the past month, I've turned my DM duties over to another player who happens to be the kid of another long-time player, and she has been expanding on some mentioned lore that was written into the world before she was born. It's been wild knowing that something I created has gathered new steam, and is being expanded on by another generation of players / DMs. Besides D&D, I enjoy playing / GMing Monster of the Week, Blades in the Dark, Root RPG, Zweihander, Warhammer FRP, World of Darkness (which I ran a 20+ year chronicle that incorporated all of the books!), Fading Suns (if you're a WH40k, and / or Dune fan, ask me about this game), Swords & Chaos, Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu. In the coming year, I'll be bringing the Old Gods of Appalachia TTRPG to the Academy along with Household, The Land of Eem, and Monty Python's Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme. In addition, I'm also planning a batch of seasonal one-shot D&D adventures starting with Halloween! Away from the TTRPG side, I'm also play Warhammer 40k (currently building a Genestealer Cult army), Flames of War, and Star Wars: Legion. "
Contact: You can reach your GM on the Academy's Discord server (james_1066) or by e-mail.
